CBD Vs. THC, Is There A Difference? If So, What Is It?

First, CBD is also known as cannabidiol which is the second most prevalent ingredient in marajuana. It is a chemical found in the Cannabis sativa plant.

While many believe that CBD has a negative effect on the brain and daily function of humans, this is an old false narrative compared to the facts and recent studies that have come around in the last few years.

CBD has been known to cure and ease numerous medical and psychological issues including multiple diseases such as cancer, Parkinsons, Chron’s, muscular pains, anxiety, stress, and more.

Now, THC also known as tetrahydrocannabinol is the ingredient that causes the psychedelic effect also known as the feeling of being “high”.  Similar to CBD, THC can be used to treat several medical conditions.

Today, as cannabis increases in legality; people all over the country are going into the cannabis business opening dispensaries and creating other non medicated methods including capsules, oils, tinctures, sprays, vape products, edibles including gummies and chocolates, and beverages containing marajuana oil.

Although both CBD and THC are from the same cannabidiol plant, they are still different. Legally, as big changes are being made to the rules in the marajuana topic today; CBD is still considered a drug under federal law. In certain states it is now legal to purchase CBD, some may still need a prescription.

Another key difference between CBD and THC is what medical condition each substance treats. CBD treats conditions such as seizures, inflammation, pain, psychosis or mental disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, nausea, migraine, depression, and anxiety. While THC treats conditions such as pain, muscle spacticity, glaucoma, insomnia, low appetite, nausea, anxiety.

In terms of side effects, THC can cause temporary increased heart rate, coordination problems, dry mouth, red eyes, slower reaction times, memory loss, and anxiety. CBD can cause appetite changes, fatigue, weight loss, dizziness, diarrhea.

When being drug tested, most tests are designed to detect an active substance. With THC being the most psychoactive substance in marajuana, it can be detected on most standard drug tests. Although CBD can be detectable as well, most drug tests are not designed to look for cannabidiol. However, take caution in the products you purchase and consume because most CBD products contain certain amounts of THC in them and although it may not be much THC in them, the more of the products you consume is the the more THC is detectable in your system, especially when 70% of CBD products are incorrectly labeled and contain much more THC than suggested.

Before you sample any marajuana products, do some research on what’s acceptable in your state. While CBD oil is taken from the hemp, this is legal in all 50 states as long as they contain less than 0.3% of THC, so you're not really high. At least this way you're in the clear legally as THC is still considered a drug and illegal everywhere except Canada and Uruguay.
